How to catch a Nintendo Switch 2 restock

Where the Switch 2 shows up, why it sells out in minutes, and a simple routine that gets you one at the sticker price.

Switch 2 System

The Switch 2 is the console everyone is hunting this year, and the stores know it. Stock arrives in waves, sells through in minutes, and then the listing sits at "sold out" until the next truck. You don't need luck to get one. You need to be told the moment it's back, and to be ready when you are.

What you're buying

Nintendo's second Switch keeps the idea of the first one and upgrades everything around it: a 7.9-inch 1080p screen that runs up to 120 Hz in handheld mode, 4K output when docked, 256 GB of storage, magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers that can double as a mouse, and backwards compatibility with almost the whole Switch library. The standalone system is the one most people want; bundles with a game cost more and come and go on their own schedule.

Our Switch 2 System page shows the current price and whether it's in stock right now, with the time we last checked.

Why it disappears so fast

Three things stack up. Demand is still well ahead of supply, so every delivery is spoken for before it lands. Resellers run bots that buy within seconds of a listing flipping. And the stores release stock quietly, with no announcement, so by the time a post appears on social media the window has usually closed.

That's why refreshing doesn't work. The people who get one are the ones who hear first.

The routine that works

  1. Set an alert. On the Switch 2 page, leave your email and confirm it. You get one message the moment the console is back in stock, with the link straight to the store. Nothing else, ever.
  2. Have an account ready. Sign in to the store ahead of time, with your address and a payment method saved. Checkout is where most people lose the race.
  3. Open the email and go. The link takes you to the product page. Add it to the cart and check out without browsing for a case or a game. You can add those later.
  4. Try pickup. If the online listing is gone but a nearby store shows it, pickup orders hold the item for you. We're adding store-level stock for Best Buy soon.
  5. Don't pay a reseller. Restocks happen every week. Paying double today buys you a few days, not a different console.

A controller for player two

Most people pair the console with a second controller eventually. If you also game on a PC or a PlayStation, the DualSense is a popular pick and rarely sells out.

Keep an eye on the pattern

Once we've logged enough Switch 2 restocks, its page will show the days and hours they usually happen, in your time zone. Until then the page says so plainly rather than guessing. Either way, the alert is the part that matters: it works whether or not there's a pattern.
